Obituary: on 25 August 2010: Eugene James Muscat -- Beloved husband and father, distinguished university professor and administrator, renowned expert in the fields of Family Business, Leadership, Management and Marketing, Eugene passed away Saturday, August 21 at the age of 66. A native of San Francisco, Eugene is survived by his loving wife, Laleh Shahideh Muscat; dear siblings Jeanette Egan, John Muscat and Joseph Muscat; beloved sons Jason Paul Muscat and Alex James Muscat; cherished granddaughter Amelia Policoff Muscat; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and family members. Preceding him in death are parents James and Marthe Muscat, brother James Muscat Jr. and late wife Stella Agius Muscat. A graduate of Archbishop Riordan High School, the University of San Francisco and the University of Southern California, over the past 25 years Eugene served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Associate Dean for Executive Education and Senior Associate Dean for External Affairs at USF's School of Business and Management, and was also the founder of the Gellert Family Business Resource Center. As a Professor of Management and coordinator of the Business minor, he touched the lives of countless students with his generosity and devotion to mentoring and teaching. Eugene's knowledge and experience earned him many awards, including the Technology Innovation Award from USF and the Beta Gamma Sigma Award from the National Business Honor Society. He traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia and the former Soviet Union, and was a visiting professor at the University of the West Indies, the Estonia Business School and the University of Malta.1

Papa Joe immigrated with his family to America from Malta by way of Ellis Island in 1920 and settled in San Francisco where he later started his family with adored late wife, Angelina, before relocating to the Peninsula in 1955. Husband of Helen Agius; father of Josephine (Jessie) Hannon (Richard) and the late Stella Muscat (Eugene also deceased); grandfather of Jason Muscat, Alex Muscat, Deneane Hannon and Christy Hannon Ventura; great grandfather of Levi Ventura, Amelia Policoff-Muscat and Stella Ventura. Family and friends are invited to visit Thursday, March 29th after 4:00PM and the Vigil Service Thursday at 7:30PM, at the Chapels of Valente Marini Perata & Co., 4840 Mission St., SF. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 30 at 10:30AM at St. Dunstan Catholic Church, 1133 Broadway Avenue, Millbrae.
