Barre, VT, USA, James John Gauthier, 37, a Montpelier native, died Sept. 5 at home in San Bernardino Heights, Calif.
Born Oct. 20, 1946, he was son of Gilbert and Ruth (Osier) Houghton. He was an electrician. From 1963 to 1972, he served in the Navy, stationed aboard the USS Winston.
Survivors include his father, in Cabot; his adoptive father, John Gauthier, Berlin; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Pierre Osier, Silver Springs, Fla; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Gauthier, Berlin; two uncles, Richard Osier, Silver Springs, Fla., and Maurice Senecal, Berlin; an aunt, Barbara Gedes, Windsor Locks, Conn; and a cousin, Robert Senecal, Berlin.
A service was scheduled Monday afternoon by American Legion Post 584 in San Bernardino. He was a post member.
