Theresa, 20 Aug 1900 -- Dr. Cleveland Houghton died recently at Ann Arbor and the remains were brought to Theresa on Saturday, accompanied by his brother, Dr. Houghton of Ann Arbor. The deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Houghton and was a very bright and promising young man, and was education in dentistry. Ill health, however, interfered with his plans and hopes, and prevented his continuing in his chosen work, and, progressing, resulted in his untimely death. The funeral was held yesterday at 11 from his parents' home here, and the remains were laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery. Among those present from out of town was Dr. Simmons [sic - a reference to Dr. Edwin A. Simonds] of Carthage, a cousin of the deceased.⁴
