A native of Holyoke, Mass., Dr. Houghton had been a resident of this area five years. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Napa Valley Memorial Gardens Mortuary with the Rev. Aaron King of the Episcopal Church officiating. Interment will be in the Veterans Garden of Honor in the Napa Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Dr. Houghton was a graduate of Boston College in Boston, Mass., and received his medical degree from Tufts Medical School. He interned at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital with the U.S. Navy and took his residency in surgery at Carney Hospital in Massachusetts. He retired after 23 years in the U.S. Navy as a surgeon, serving in Korea, Japan and FMS Fleet Marine Force in the Mediterranean with the Atomic Engergy Commission at Eniwetok. Dr. Houghton served as chief of surgery at Corpus Christi, Tex., Naval Air Station, and also the U.S. Naval Hospital at Bremerton, Wash. After retiring from the Navy as a captain he and his family moved to Napa. Dr. Houghton was a member of the American Medical Association, California Medical Association, Massachusetts Medical Association, the Federation of American College of Surgeons and he was a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgeons. Surviving include his widow, Barbara Louise Houghton; a daughter, Linda Nangle, Napa; two sons, Charles Clifton Houghton III and William Gregory Houghton, both of Napa; a sister, Miss Barbara M. Houghton of Brockton, Mass; father, Charles Clifton Houghton Sr. of Brockton, Mass.

Her birth father was a car salesmen in Los Angeles County, California for a Ford company they were from England they would have kept her if she would have been a boy she had 4 or 5 sisters. Christie's birth parents told there family members that she had died at birth. My sister was very troubled and looked for her birth parents. About the time around the end of her life at age 24 years a judge sent her a reply to her request to find her birth parents and he told her quite a bit about them and a uncle, the letter is missing I wish I had it because I would have given it to my niece to have for her records we never knew if she had gone to see them or not but I'm hoping if she did that they would have treated her with some love and kindness.³
