Biography

Luther left Maria and their children, disappeared, and was presumed dead when she married William Skelton. Years later, after Maria had borne William's children, Luther showed up at the home of Lydia, circa 1878-1879.
His obituary states he had a daughter, Mrs. Clark, living in Michigan. Research shows that Lydia Luther married an Edwin Clark in Michigan in 1871. John shows up on the 1850 census as a grocer in Michigan married to Maria. His age may be wrong as other sources indicate he was born around 1823.⁶
