Addison Caswell, 71, died on Friday (Feb. 25, 1955) at the Potsdam Hospital.

He was born on Oct. 17, 1883 in Diane, a son of Melvin and Cinderella Houghton Caswell. He had lived in Potsdam most of his life where he was district manager of the Maytag Company.

Surviving was his wife, the former Bessie Mahoney, a registered nurse of the Potsdam Hospital staff, and nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Bessie M. Caswell, 64, Hannawa Falls, died on Monday (3/30/1964) in Potsdam Hospital.

She was born in Norfolk on Apr. 27, 1899, a daughter of Daniel and Emma Nettle Mahoney. She was married to
Addison Caswell, who died in 1955.

She was for 42 years a registered nurse and was the first registered nurse to serve at Potsdam Hospital.

Surviving are three brothers, Daniel Mahoney, Rochester; Edward Mahoney, DeKalb; Emmett Mahoney, Syracuse; three sisters, Mrs. Edward (Pauline) Murphy, Hannawa Falls; Mrs. Leslie (Maude) Wilson, Parishville; and Mrs. John (Helen) Coogan, Farmingdale, L. I.

CANDOR - Joseph Chase, 73, of Candor, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2007, at his home. Joe was predeceased by his parents; son, David Houghton; sister, Beverly Rupert. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Chase; son and daughter-in-law, Floyd (Carolyn) Houghton; four daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine (George) Brady, Cheri (Michael) Knapp, Brenda (Cecil) Hollien, Kelly (Richard) Sundguist; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; six sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mildred Burnett, Joan Brooks, Marion Bennett, Nancy (Francis) Waterman, Emma Richards, Margaret (Peter) Harp; also many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Some of Joe's favorite pastimes were fishing and camping.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 31, at 1:00 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Candor, with Rev. Philip Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Endicott. The family will receive friends Friday from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's memory to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Central New York Chapter, 7445 Morgan Rd., Liverpool, NY 13090.

WILLIAMSTOWN - Louis (Ted) Darling, 51, a resident of Williamstown for the past 10 years, died Sunday at his home.

He was born March 28, 1919, in Redfield, son of Ferdinand and Violet Dean Darling. He married the former Bertha Houghton in Scranton, Pa., April 26, 1940. Mr. Darling lived in the Gloversville area for several years before moving to Williamstown.

He was a self-employed carpenter and mason. He was of the Protestant faith and was the present master of Williamstown Grange where he had been a member for seven years.

Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, two sons, five sisters, five brothers and eleven grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 1 Thursday at the Sanborn Funeral Home, Camden. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Williamstown.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Tuesday and Wednesday.
