Elisabeth D. Houghton 1937-2010 EAST LONGMEADOW - Elisabeth Houghton, 73, entered into eternal rest on Dec. 20, 2010 at Redstone in East Long-meadow. Born in Went-schitz, Germany (now part of the Czech Republic) on September 24, 1937, she was the daughter of Jakob and Barbara (Zitterl) Duscher. With her family, she was evacuated from her home to Germany in 1945, when the town was claimed by the Czech Republic. She came to the US with her husband in 1962. Upon his retirement from the Army, they made Indian Orchard their home in 1972. She resided in Indian Orchard until July 2001, when Redstone became her new home. Elisabeth loved her occasional trips to the casino, bingo, German cooking, crocheting and time with her family and friends. Her beautiful Afghans will be treasured by many for years to come. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon K Houghton who died in 2005. She is survived by her son, Joseph Houghton and his wife Kristina and her two granddaughters, Amelia and Stasya, all of Longmeadow. She also leaves her twin brother, Franz Duscher of Mechanicsburg, PA. She was predeceased by her sister Getta Stuts of Germany. She will also be missed by her adopted family at Redstone. A gathering for family and friends will be at the Forastiere-Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., E. Longmeadow on Friday December 24th from 9:00-10:00 am. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 am at the funeral home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 am in St Michael's Parish, 128 Maple St., E. Longmeadow. Burial will follow in the Mass Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. Memorial contributions in Elisabeth's name may be made to the Arthritis Foundation , P.O. Box 96280, Washington, DC 20077.
