Dear brother of David Houghton of Winthrop, Charles Houghton of Winthrop, Robin Rice of Winthrop, Lorraine Regal of NH, Lisa Euefueno of VA and Brian Houghton of Winthrop. Cherished grandfather of Lauren Emory. Beloved son of the late Geraldine (Lindstrom) and Charles Houghton. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 8:00 P.M. that evening. A committal service will be held on Wednesday, May 28 at 1:00 P.M. at the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend the memorial meal immediately following the graveside at the Pleasant Park Yacht Club. Peter Houghton, 79, of LaGrange died Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Hospice LaGrange.

Mr. Houghton was born January 1, 1931 in Ionia, MI, son of the late Edwin Houghton and Katherine Sullivan Houghton. He moved to LaGrange after retirement to enjoy the outdoors and fish. He was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Mr. Houghton was a graduate of Michigan State University, served as a Lieutenant in the Signal Corps, and was a retired Marketing Manager. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gaynelle Gilbert Houghton.

Survivors include his children, Mark (Terri) Houghton of LaGrange, and Brynn Ann Houghton of Olympia, WA; his companion, Janet Welch of LaGrange; and a grandson, Jason Alexander of LaGrange.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 23, 2010 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Adult Education Fund in memory of Mr. Edwin Peter Houghton.
