AUSTIN - Mary Elizabeth Moore Houghton passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 18. 1999, at her home in Austin.

Memorial service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at the First Presbyterian Church, 1000 Penn St., Fort Worth. True to her giving and optimistic spirit, Mary donated her body to science.

Memorials: Donations in Mary's memory may be made to the Carter Park Elementary School Library at 1204 E. Broadus Ave., Fort Worth 76115, or to the First Presbyterian Church Night Shelter.

Mary Elizabeth Moore Houghton was born Jan. 23, 1914, at her parents' farm near Marlow, Okla. She graduated from Phillips University in 1936, and became a teacher in Enid, Okla., schools. She and her husband of 57 years, Gordon Houghton, married in 1941, and moved to Fort Worth in 1946. Mary loved her adopted city, where she lived for 52 years. She never tired of exploring its parks, museums, events, historic sites and citizens. From 1949, until her retirement in 1976, Mary served the FortWorthpublic schools as a beloved first grade teacher, reading specialist, and director of the Reading Clinic. While teaching, she earned her master's degree at Texas Christian University. After retirement, Mary led a full and rich life. She traveled, served as a docent at Thistle Hill and continued active memberships in the First Presbyterian Church and Forum Club.

She wrote and read extensively, continued her education, and showered much love on family and friends.

Survivors: Her husband, Gordon; brother, Ralph Moore and his wife, Bobbie; sisters, Dorothy Urbach, Ruth Abitz, Jane McKnight and husband, Ken; son, John and his wife, Karen; daughter, Ginny Masullo and her husband, Nick; grandchildren, Debbie, Stephanie, Yarri, Daniel, and Christopher; great-grandchildren, Phillip, Allison, and Mikaylah; sister-in-law, Marjorie Houghton Bates and husband, Barker.2

Memorial services for Dr. Michael Allan Houghton, 54, are set for 11 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Wewoka.

Rev. Henry Bell will officiate at the services. Houghton’s remains will be cremated. He died Monday, August 23, 1999, when the airplane he was piloting crashed north of Seminole. According to his wife, Connie, witnesses to the crash said that the engine cut out, and forced the plane to land. Houghton was born March 17, 1945 in Ranger, Texas to Johnny and CleoAnna Smith. A 1963 graduate of Everman High School, Houghton began his residency in family medicine at the University of Oklahoma. In January of 1985, he moved to Wewoka, where began his family practice at the Tri Cities Family Medical Clinic. More recently, Houghton began helping at prisons in Oklahoma, performing medical duties at four prisons and at the new Tulsa jail. Houghton, a pilot, was flying home from Tulsa when his plane crashed. He was married to Connie Sue (York) Houghton, on Aug. 17, 1965. The couple celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary last week. Survivors include his wife, of the home; his parents; one son, Chase Mark Houghton, Holdenville; one daughter, Spring Michael Houghton, New York; three brothers, Pat Houghton, Rod Houghton and Dr. Scott Houghton, all of Texas; and one sister, Marcia Hoedebeck, Texas.5

Orville was retired; he worked most of his life as a truck driver.

Orville loved cars, the older the better. He loved working on them and restoring them. His current project was restoring a 1940 Plymouth.

Orville also loved being outdoors and really enjoyed fishing and camping.

Orville was a loving husband, father, brother, son, grandfather, and friend.

He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him and loved him.

Orville is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Randall Houghton.

Orville is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Houghton; his children Brian Houghton and Lora Burns; grandchildren Phoenix Houghton, Ryle Houghton, Addison Houghton, Marshall Burns, and Thomas Houghton; a son, Tim Houghton; a daughter, Tiffany Houghton; his sister, Yvonne Estes and husband David; and nephews Chris Estes and Steven Estes.

ObituaryJan 17, 2012ODESSA Paul George Houghton, age 63, entered into rest in the arms of our Lord, surrounded by those who loved him deeply, on Saturday, January 14, 2012, at the family home in Odessa. He was born in Hamlin, TX on February 1, 1948 to the late Ernest Houghton and Martha (Braggs) Houghton. Paul married the love of his life, Rita Elaine Barron, at the Foursquare Church in Odessa on November 27, 1965. He was a machinist and had worked for several years for Meither Machine. Paul and Rita worshiped at Grace Fellowship Church.

Paul was the epitome of a family man. Family was everything to him. He loved without condition and instilled that same love, compassion, and respect for one another in his family. His greatest joy in life was his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Paul was welcomed into Heaven by his daughter-in-law, Billie Houghton.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years: Rita Houghton and five children: David Houghton, Melissa Johnson and husband Dwayne, Kerris Flowers and husband Warren, Ernest Houghton and wife Myna and Martha McDougle, all of Odessa; three sisters: Ann Croom of Odessa, Thelma Dunfee of Roswell, NM and Velma Nichols of Portales, NM; one brother: Lee Houghton of Orange; twelve grandchildren: Melissa Nicole Johnson, Timothy Paul Houghton, Katyn Elizabeth Armstrong, Joshua Dwayne Johnson, Lainey Bre-Anne McDougle, Ryan Wayne Houghton, Billy Landon Blake McDougle, Matthew Tate Houghton, Caleb Aaron Johnson, Kelsey Makaylee Houghton, Warren Dale Flowers III "Trey," Marisa Brooke Fierro, all of Odessa; two honorary grandchildren: Jordan Elizabeth Carvajal and Andrew Oscar Carvajal, both of Conroe, TX; one great-grandchild: Evan Daniel Sandoval and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family visitation will be Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at Acres West Funeral Chapel from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Survivors include her son Randy Houghton of Denton; daughter, Pamela Ronck and husband Keith of Southlake; two grandchildren, Brian Davisson and wife Aneela of New York City, Stephanie Horine and husband Brian of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Matthew Ronck and wife Laura of Minneapolis, MN and Jessica Ronck Ritchie and husband Sean of Austin; three great grandchildren Landry Syler, Parker Syler and Olivia Ritchie; and several nieces and nephews.
