SEYMOUR, SHIRLEY ANN Grand Rapids Age 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 26, 2013. She was born on November 14, 1925 in Ionia, the daughter of Lyle and Wilma (Laux) Houghton. Besides raising her six children, Shirley enjoyed bowling, golfing, a rousing game of hearts and many theater trips to New York. She was very proud of working for the Rationing Board during WWII. In her later years, she used her amazing skills working estate sales. Shirley is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Leo E. Seymour, Jr; twin brother, Stuart Houghton; brother, Richard and Judy Houghton; sister-in-law, Marilyn Houghton. Surviving are children, Tom (Sally) Seymour, Barbara (Alan) Hass, Dan (Judy) Seymour, Nancy Simard, Karen Seymour and MaryJane (Don) Fraker; ten grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren; sister-in-law, Shirley Houghton. A Celebration of Shirley's life will be held at 1 PM Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 11 AM until 1 PM before the service. The family would like to extend a special Thank You for the wonderful care and love given to her at Holland Home Fulton Manor these past four-plus years. Also, Thank You to Faith Hospice Trillium Woods for the tender care given in her last days. Memorial contributions may be made to American Alzheimer's Association in memory of Shirley. Obituary

Stuart, 84 of Ionia passed away at his home with his family by his side. He was the son of Lyle and Wilma (Laux) Houghton. Stuart married Shirley Horrocks July 27, 1968.

He owned and operated Houghton Beef Packers for 27 years. He enjoyed bowling and loved to help his neighbors by plowing snow and mowing lawns. He also loved to farm, raise cattle and horses.

Stuart is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Shirley Houghton; sons, Doug (Carol) Houghton of Stanton and Robert Houghton of Clarksville; sister, Shirley (Leo) Seymour of Grand Rapids; four grandchildren, Mike Houghton of Montana, Tom (Jenny) Houghton of Ionia, Harvey (Annette) Houghton of Mesick, MI, and Shelly (Dan) Wiergan of Newaygo; eight great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; mother in law, Eleonore Horrocks of Ionia; aunt, Dorothy Laux of Ionia; sister in laws, Dixie Murawa, Kay (George) Bryant and Gerri Brown; brother in laws, Kenneth (Sara) Horrocks, James (Dorothy) Horrocks and Lindsey (Cindy) Horrocks and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Terrance Lee Houghton, David Craig Houghton and Ricky Lee Horrocks; two daughters, Tammy Sue Horrocks and Robin Lynn Horrocks; brother, Richard Houghton; sister in law, Judith Houghton, father in law, Otto Horrocks and sister in law Genia Jo Horrocks. Anyone wishing may make a memorial contribution in Stuart's name to Heartland Hospice.
