LEE -- Dorothy B. Houghton, 78, of Laurel Street died Saturday at Laurel Lake Center. Born in Waynesville, Ohio, on Aug. 10, 1924, daughter of N.P. and Gail Unglesby Blatt, she attended schools in New Bremen, Ohio. She resided in Philadelphia for many years and moved to the Berkshires in 1998. A Navy veteran of World War II, she was stationed in San Francisco. Mrs. Houghton was employed as a medical librarian at the University of Pennsylvania for 25 years, retiring in the 1980s. Her husband, Jack E. Houghton Sr., whom she married in 1946, died in 1999. She leaves two sons, Jack E. Houghton Jr. of West Stockbridge and Richard Houghton of Tampa, Fla; five daughters, Lois Houghton of Great Barrington, Linda Dingman and Louanne Leonhart, both of Alexandria Bay, N.Y., and Terry Larson and Kathy Coker, both of St. Augustine, Fla; and 10 grandchildren.²

Deceased Name: WALTER C. HOUGHTON
age 95, died on November 24, 2000. Martha, his beloved wife of 63 years, preceded him in 1993.

He was born in New Jersey on April 4, 1905 to Walter L. and Agnes Houghton. He was the oldest of four children.

Surviving Mr. Houghton is his sister, Doris Houghton of Singer Island; two nephews, Anthony Houghton of Singer Island and Richard Houghton of Englewood, FL; four nieces, Marion Houghton of South Orange, NJ, Mary Mayer of Maplewood, NJ, Carolyn Banks of Califon, NJ, and Therese Duda of Flourtown, PA.

Although Mr. Houghton had no children of his own, he was loved by family and friends alike and all affectionately called him "Uncle Walter".

Uncle Walter was a devoted alumnus of Notre Dame, Class of 1926. He retired as Vice President of the Seagram Company in New York City in 1970 and had been a resident of Palm Beach County for the last 30 years.

Mr. Houghton was a sportsman who played on the Notre Dame Tennis Team and played golf for over 65 years as a member of various country clubs. At his death, he was a member of the Deerfield Country Club.

A Memorial Service will be held at Edgewater Point Estates at a later date.³

Doris L. Houghton, 101 years old of Singer Island, died on Sunday, January 11, 2009. She was a beloved aunt of Anthony J. Houghton, Marion Houghton, Mary Mayer, Richard Houghton, Carolyn Banks and Terese Houghton and their spouses, their children, their grandchildren and special relative and friend Jane Houghton and Barbara Rankin. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at HOWARD-PRICE FUNERAL HOME, 754 US Highway One, North Palm Beach, FL 33408 (848-9641) .
