Deceased Name: OBITUARY Warren Houghton, retired major, of Squantum, 92
Warren E. Houghton of Squantum, a World War II veteran and retired major in the Air Force Reserve, died Tuesday at Quincy Medical Center. He was 92.

Born in Minneapolis, Mr. Houghton moved to Brockton and graduated from Brockton High School in 1934. He was a resident of Squantum for 62 years.

Mr. Houghton graduated from Boston University's College of Business Administration, majoring in accounting and finance.

He entered World War II as a private and was promoted to captain in the Army Air Forces, and served as a staff officer in charge of supervising base supplies. After the war, Mr. Houghton went on to complete 20 years of additional service and retired as a major in the Air Force Reserve.

He was a stockbroker with the New York Stock Exchange for Southgate & Co. in Boston. Later, he was a comptroller for Ford Motor Co. Mr. Houghton also was chief accountant for the Massachusetts State Lottery Commision before he retired in 1991.

He helped form Boy Scout Troop 24 and enjoyed camping with the scouts. Mr. Houghton was an original member of the 1st Parish Council of Star of the Sea Church.

He enjoyed ice-skating, swimming and boating at Orchard Beach. Mr. Houghton loved taking walks and long bike rides with his wife of 65 years. He also enjoyed speaking with people across the globe using his ham radio.

He is survived by his wife, Mary M. (Dornan); two sons, Richard D. and Donald M., both of Quincy; two sisters, June Sullivan of Rockport and Marjorie Hopkins of Milton; ; four grandchildren, a great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Church, Quincy.

Burial will be in Milton Cemetery, Milton.

Arrangements by Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy.

Lillian Alma (Houghton) Lange

The funeral service for Lillian A. Lange, 86, Vergas, MN will be on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at 11 a.m. in
St. John's Lutheran Church, Vergas with Reverend Robert Hinckley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-7 p.m. in the St. John's Lutheran Church, Vergas and also one hour prior to
the service in the church. Lillian died on Friday, February 23, 2007 in St. Mary's Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, MN.

Lillian Alma Houghton was born the daughter of Lloyd and Alma (Wischnak) Houghton on May 6, 1920 in Marshalltown,
Iowa. Lillian was baptized into faith on December 12, 1920 in Marshall County Iowa. She moved with her family to
Vergas where she was raised and attended District 149 country school. Lillian confirmed her faith on May 30, 1937
at St. Paul's Lutheran Church-Loon Lake, Vergas. Lillian worked in a number of homes doing house work. She also
worked in the Fankhanel Restaurant and for Ehlke Grocery Store, both in Vergas. She was united in marriage to Adolph
Lange on March 19, 1941 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church-Loon Lake, Vergas. They farmed in Hobart Township, near Frazee.
Adolph died in June of 1991.

Lillian enjoyed growing flowers, feeding the birds and cooking. She especially loved spending time with her family
and friends.

She is survived by a son, Ronald of Frazee, a daughter, Diana (Walter) Wallace of Vergas, a brother, Duane (Judy) Houghton
of Vergas, three grandchildren, James (Tresa), Deborah Nelson, Nancy (Scott) Benke and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two brothers, George Houghton Jr and a brother at infancy.

Arrangements are with the Furey Funeral Home, Vergas, MN. 218-334-2461.

Deceased Name: Ruth Hitchcock Houghton Brennan
Ruth Hitchcock Houghton was born in Duluth, MN on May 7, 1917, she died peacefully at home on January 25, 2008. Ruth traveled to Tucson in January 1934 to attend the Hacienda del Sol School for Girls from which she graduated in 1935. In 1939, she graduated from Wells College, in Aurora, NY, with a degree in English Literature. While visiting her sister, the late Mrs. Alfred Ronstadt, she met Mr. Tyler Emerson Barrett. Ruth and Tyler were married and became permanent residents of Tucson in 1940. Ruth was active in many community organizations. She served as the president of the Tucson Junior Women's Club in 1942 and the Junior League of Tucson from 1955-1956; as the chair of the Regional Nominating Comittee for the Associations of Junior Leagues of America; as a trustee of the Tucson Medical Center and the First Congregational Church; and as a member of several community boards. Ruth was active in politics. She ran Senator Barry Goldwater's Pima County Re-election Campaign Office in 1958, driving him nearly 1000 miles around the state during the successful campaign. Ruth was a columnist for both Magazine Tucson and the Tucson Citizen, and in 1960 she became the "Woman's Financial Advisor" for the Bank of Tucson. Upon her retirement, Ruth married Mr. Joseph Brennan. Ruth was passionate about her family, golf, native-plant gardening, water-color painting, reading, the Sonoran Desert, and all aspects of learning. She was a member of The Tucson Country Club and the Desert Garden Club. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Tyler Barrett (1957) and Joseph Brennan (1981). Ruth is also survived by her three children, Julia, Tyler (Michelle), and Charles "Rick" (Cindy); four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank her caregivers for their compassionate assistance. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Tucson Botanical Gardens or the Arizona State Museum. A celebration of Ruth's life will be held at Tucson Country Club, February 10, at 400 p.m.³
