Mr. Alexander Malachi Haughton, one of Palatka's best known citizens and a pioneer of this section, died at his home in the North End early Tuesday morning, after an illness of a couple of weeks.
The deceased was sixty-three years of age, and was born in Palatka, and here he was schooled and reared to manhood. For years he was engaged in the grocery business. He was a member of the Episcopal Church and of St. Johns Lodge, Knights of Pythias. He is survived by his wife, Ellen P., one daughter, Mrs. Joseph Harrell, and by three brothers, M. H. Haughton of Jacksonville, M. Haughton of Ocala, and Joseph H. Haughton of Palatka.
The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from St. Mark's Episcopal Church; the interment being in the family section in West View Cemetery. The services at the grave were conducted by the Knights of Pythias. (Times-Herald Obituary dtd Friday, 29 Sep 1922.)
