He was a resident of Twin Mountain for many years but had only recently spent his summers here. He rented his cottages. Members of the family include two daughters, a son in Colorado; a brother, Arthur, of Twin Mountain; nieces, nephews and grandchildren. A requiem high mass was held in Cambridge, Mass., on Saturday, Apr. 30 with burial in Manchester, N.H.

Arthur S. Houghton, 72, of Twin Mountain, died suddenly in Tarpon Springs, Fla. Thursday, Mar. 7

Born in Twin Mountain, he attended school here and was a retired cheif petty officer in the Navy with 22 years of service.

He had operated the Hilltop Cabins in Twin Mountain for the past 25 years, was a communicant of St. Patrick's church and a member of the Fleet Reserve Assn., and the Ingerson-Smith post, AL, Whitefield.

Family members are his wife, Mrs. Dora Houghton; three sons, Arthur Houghton, Jr. of Brooklyn, N.Y., Patrick T. Houghton of Philadelphia, and William J. Houghton of Whitefield; and six grandchildren.

A Requiem Mass was offered Tuesday morning in St. Patrick's church. Burial was in St. Margaret's cemetery, with military rites.
