"The family story is that Thomas was of Amish/Mennonite faith, and that when he married Elizabeth, he was shunned. On my grandfather's birth certificate, his occupation was listed as bridge builder. They went to NY, where their children were born. Thomas was said to have worked on the Brooklyn Bridge. Family have said he (Thomas) was born in Jamestown, Pa. My problem is that there are 3 in 3 different counties in Pa. There is a Jamestown and Johnstown Pa which I believe are in the same county in Pa. Since he was a bridge builder and I know that the area in Pa was known for ironworking, I would think that was the region he was born in. I don't have exact dates which is another problem."³
