Biography

MLM: He was raised on a farm in Harvard, attended school there, learned the machinist' trade and started the first loom for the Clinton Wire Mill; he was employed there a number of years; removed to Worcester, MA, and associated with D.H. Fanning, who in 1861 started the manufacture of hoop skirts/corsets and pocketbooks. The company was called the Worcester Corset Co. He worked there for many years and then for himself manufacturing pocketbooks. He was a Republican.^14,13
