Carmela Victoria Boschetti (née Fenech) passed away peacefully in her home on December 10th, 2021, surrounded by her loving family - her husband of 62 years, Mike, on one side, and daughters Lisa, Gina, son Dino, and son-in-law Kurt on the other, as they guided her to heaven after a long fight with advanced COPD.

Carmela was born on the island of Malta on September 16th, 1939, later emigrating to the U.S. in 1950 to settle with her family in San Francisco. Carmela married Michael "Mike" Boschetti in August of 1959. The couple moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico shortly thereafter, where Mike would be stationed at Sandia Army Base. Their son, Dino, was born on the base in 1960. In 1964, they moved to San Pablo, where they would go on to welcome daughters Lisa and Gina. The family would later move once more to Pinole, where Carmela would reside for the rest of her life.

Carmela worked as a special education teacher's aide for over twenty years, before retiring to begin her "career" as a grandmother. Her grandchildren never knew what daycare was, because Grandma and Grandpa were always caring for them. Carmela was an amazingly devoted wife, mother, and grandmother - family was the most important thing to her, and she was immensely proud of her eight grandchildren, who loved her back with fierce devotion. She was also deeply proud of her Maltese heritage, and took great joy in sharing Maltese language, culture, and cuisine with her friends and family.
Carmela is predeceased by her parents, John and Lorenza Fenech; her sister, Doris Tasseff; and two younger siblings who passed away during childhood in Malta. She is survived by her beloved husband, Mike; sister Josephine Gallo, brother Freddy(Wendy) Fenech; her children Dino(Stacy) Boschetti, Lisa Boschetti-Maurino, and Gina(Kurt) Carbone; as well as her eight grandchildren, Danielle and Nicolle Boschetti; Gino(Melissa), Gianna, Danté, and Desireé Maurino; Kyle(Lynze Silfies) and Cole(Ashley Sparks) Carbone.

If you were Carmela's friend, you were a part of her family, and she was loved by all who knew her. We will take great comfort in knowing that her presence will always be felt in the love of the family that she created. (Contact family regarding memorial service in late January.)
