She is survived by her devoted sisters Carmen Busuttil (Joe) of San Bruno and Mary Vella ( the late Saviour) of Mosta, Malta. She was born on August 1, 1915 in a house her father built in the Bay View district of San Francisco. At the age of ten her family migrated back to the island of Malta where she grew up and met her husband Joseph Schembri. After the war they returned to San Francisco where they raised their four children: MaryAnn Saisi (Bob), John Schembri (his late wife Judy), Victor Schembri and Charles Schembri (Lynda).
She was grandmother to Stephen, David (Connie) and Michael Saisi (Pam), Lisa Schembri (Joel) and Katie Ward (Steve) and great grandmother to Nicholas, Alexandra, Matteo and Olivia Saisi. She lived in San Francisco until 1964 when they moved to San Bruno. She retired from Schlage Lock Company after many years of service. She traveled extensively with her husband and she loved to dance. She was a regular at the San Bruno Senior Center. Always the "belle of the ball." She was a generous and loving mother and we will miss her. We wish to thank Ana Medorio and her staff at Easton Creek Villa in Burlingame for the love and devotion they extended to mom for the past four years.1

Obituary: on 15 March 2016: Carmen (Vella) Busuttil -- December 26, 1926 – March 11, 2016 -- Carmen passed on to our Heavenly Father peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family and caregivers on, March 11, 2016. The 89-year-old, the third of four children, was born in Mosta, Malta in 1926. She married Joseph Busuttil, the love of her life, at age 15, and they remained true sweethearts for the entirety of their 73-year union. In 1943 they welcomed son Charles, their greatest pride. In 1947 Carmen bravely immigrated to America with her young family. She was actively involved in Maltese-American cultural affairs in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 50 years. She will always be remembered for her acts of love and kindness – a person with the rare ability to love with the whole of her being. Carmen loved many things: music, dance, travel, but the thing she loved most was her family. Carmen is survived by her beloved husband Joseph, son Charles and daughter-in-law Dolores Busuttil, Grandchildren Joni and Dave Sperow and Frances and Blair Simmons and great-grandchildren Victoria and Stephanie Sperow and Dylan and Sean Simmons along with her sister Mary Vella and her many nieces, nephews, and friends. She will rest in Heaven under the care of our lord with her parents Marianna and Giovanni Vella, older brother Serafino, her dear sister Theresa, beloved niece Marilyn and her angel Marianna (her infant daughter).1 Carmen Vella was also known as Carmela (?)

Joseph Pisani married Carmela Calleja, daughter of Joseph Calleja and Carmela Mifsud, on 5 January 1946 at San Francisco, CA, USA.3 Joseph Pisani died on 17 January 1977 at South San Francisco, South San Francisco Co., CA, USA, at age 71; of a stroke.2 He was buried at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma, CA, USA.

Joseph Pisani Joe and Carmen were not members of Maltese Club; just occasionally attended events there. They were more involved with All Hallows Church Holy Name Society. They were members of the Franciscan Third Order. He was a For 10 years, Joe brought fresh water on a barge from Covello Point and Fort Baker to Angel Iskand, where it was pumped into a water reserve. He later worked for the US Government at the Presidio where he was in charge of maintaining the swimming pool. Had his own mathmatical system for combining chlorine and other chemicals to keep the pool clean. Retired from that job at age 70.
Joseph Pisani Joe knew George very well. In 1946, lived next door and was his bartender. Joe took family to visit George's Santa Rosa horse ranch often. He lived in 1975 at 130 San Joaquin Court, San Bruno, CA, USA.
