Richard Houghton, 70, of 214 Tower St., Jamestown, N.Y., died Friday morning (April 10, 2009) at Heritage Park Nursing Facility.

He was born July 17, 1938, in Jamestown to the late Guy and Mazie Schifano Houghton. He has resided his entire life in Jamestown and was employed with the Local Union No. 464 working construction as a laborer. He was a member of St. James Church and the Jamestown Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his children: Jim Bush of Ashtabula, Ohio, Gertrude Thomas of Cleveland, Ohio, Joseph Angelo of Jamestown; three sisters: Wendy Emke of Jamestown, Iva Vicari of Dunkirk, N.Y., and Rebecca Perry of Igo, Calif; three brothers: Chuck Angelo of Lakewood, N.Y., Ron Houghton of Clymer, N.Y., Bob Houghton of Florida; 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Letta, on Dec. 19, 1998; two sisters: Kitten Fontana and Debbie Brown; and stepfather, Charles Angelo Sr.

Friends will be received at the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Service on Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
