Threva E. Houghton, 65, of 7586 Nazareth Road, Clymer, died at 4:55 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at her home.
She was born on April 24, 1944, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Elmer and Beatrice Findley Jennie.
She had worked at the Dutch Village Restaurant for 10 years. She loved Sunday fellowship at God's Country Chapel. She also enjoyed crocheting, cooking spending time with her family and her grandchildren. Threva adored her dogs, Dolly and Corky.
Threva is survived by her husband, Ronald Houghton Sr. of Clymer, whom she married Aug. 6, 1961; children, Ronald Houghton Jr. of Falconer, Debbie Houghton of Jamestown, Tina (Corey) Lisciandro of Jamestown, Stacey Houghton of Cherry Creek, Laurie (Jim) Nilson of Jamestown, Amy (Victor Jr.) Rex of Brocton, Kim Houghton of Corry, Pa., Nicole (Joe) Coccarelli of Jamestown; 16 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Dale Dean of Sheffield, Pa. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Leora Arnold.¹

Bernadette A. Houghton, 87, of Emmaus, formerly of Philadelphia, died on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 in her home. She was the wife of Walter W. Houghton, whom she shared 64 years of marriage with. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Hudak) Fierko. She was a member of St. Anns Catholic Church in Emmaus. Survivors: Husband; daughters, Dr. Bernadette Houghton, of Columbia, SC, Loretta McCollough, and her husband, Thomas, of Tulsa, OK, and Anne Brady, and her husband, John, with whom she resided; brothers, Francis, Joseph and Edward Fierko; sister, Anne Marie Fierko; grandchildren, Allison, Lindsey, Meghan and J.W; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen. Services: 10:15 a.m. Saturday, Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm Street, Emmaus, followed by Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., St. Anns Catholic Church, Emmaus. Thomas Goelet Haughton; A list of alumni of the University of North Carolina published in 1889 states that Thomas Goelet Haughton (minister) of Edenton, graduated in 1834, and had died before 1889. The 1860 Census Slave Schedule lists Thomas G. Haughton of Salisbury, Rowan County, NC, as the owner of 32 slaves.
The History of Rowan County, NC, pg. 431, states: “ The Rev. Thomas G. Haughton succeeded the Rev. John Haywood Parker as rector of St. Lukes Church, (Salisbury, NC) in Nov 1858. He resigned the 16th of July 1866, and shortly thereafter abandoned the ministry. He was married on the 20th day of February 1860 to Mrs. Ann Parker, widow of the late Rev. John H. Parker, by the Rev. George B. Whetmore D.D. Thomas Ferrand Haughton, now in his 16th year, is the only child of this union.” Ann Parker was born Ann Ferrand in 1822, daughter of Dr. Stephen L. Ferrand. She married 1st John B. Lord, 2nd, Rev. John H. Parker and 3rd Rev. Thomas G. Haughton.
According to the 1870 Federal Census, Mortality Schedule, Ann died of consumption in Salisbury, NC in October of 1870 at age 47. The 1860 census lists the household of Thomas G. Haughton and his wife Ann as follows: Salisbury, Rowan Co. NC, Thomas G. Haughton, Episcopal Minister, 43yo, born in NC; Ann, 38yo, NC; Wm. C. Lord, Atty, 21yo, NC; M.S. Lord (F), 20yo, NC; Stephen F. Lord, 14yo, NC; Theophilus Parker, 5yo, NC; Ann F. Parker, 3yo, NC. Ferrand Haughton appears on the census in 1900 in Asheville, NC, with a wife Elizabeth born in Oct. 1877. The record states they have been married for three years and have no children.
