A family of Houghtons from Hopewell, NJ moved there @ 1790-1810. My 3 x great grandmother is a Houghton who married John Hogshead (Hogsed) in Mason county, Kentucky in 1815. As for James D Hogshead and Catherine Houghton Hogshead, they left Maysville by crossing the river to Ripley Ohio and purchased land on the hill just east of John Rankin’s hill by 1833 just as the Underground Railroad became very busy through the town. By 1840 they are in Indiana

He was a member of Post 2550, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Dunedin. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Gail Pease and Carol Lynn Houghton, Clearwater; and a brother, Allan, Dunedin. American Burial and Cremation Service, Palm Harbor.
