Barre, VT, USA, Carroll E. Houghton LOWER CABOT - Carroll E. Houghlon, 83, a lifetime resident here, died Tuesday in Fort Pierce, Fla. Born here June 23, 1897. he was son of George and Julia (Hopkins) Houghton. For many years, he owned and operated a farm here and had also been the Cabot cemetery sexton. A member of the Cabot United Church, he had been a member more than 50 years of Green Mountain Masonic Lodge in Cabot. His wife, the former Mabel Smith, died in 1962. Surviving are three sons, Elliot Houghton, Amherst, Mass; Cedric Houghton, Monroe, N.H., and Max Houghton, Rhinebeck, N.Y; four daughters, Vivian Lavoie, Wapping, Conn; Rachel Fontaine, Southington, Conn; Carolyn Caswell, Hartford, Conn., and Elma Russell, St. Johnsbury Center; 17 grand-children; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Thelma Alexander, Berlin, nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Cabot United Church with its pastor, the Rev. Alfred ODonnell, officiating. Friends may call at the Holcomb-des Groseilliers Memorial Chapel in Marshfield Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. The Masonic service is scheduled for 8 p.m.' L'ater committal will be in the Cabot Village Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Church of Cabot, Cabot 05647. Arrangements are under the direction of John des Groseilliers, Holcomb-des Groseilliers Memorial Chapel, Marshfield.
