DR. P. HOUGHTON DIES; BROOKLYN PHYSICIAN; During College Career He Had Rowed on Harvard and Georgetown Eights.

Dr. Percy Houghton of 40 East Eighty-eighth Street, Manhattan, a general practicioner of medicine, with offices at 195 Leonard Street, Brooklyn, died FRiday night in St. Catherin'es Hospital, Brooklyn, of toxemia after an illness of six weeks. He underwent an operation on Wednesday. His widow, a son, Percy Jr., and a daughter, Mrs. K. Malburn, survive.
Born sixty years ago in St. Paul, Dr. Houghton studied for a time at the University of Minnesota and then went to Harvard, where he graduated as a Bachelor of Arts. In 1900 he received his medical degree from Georgetown. During the World War Dr. Houghton served in France as a Captain in the Medical Corps attached to the transportation branch.
While living in Minnesota Dr. Houghton rowed on a four-oared crew that won a national championship at Philadelphia, and he was on both the Harvard and Georgetown varsity eights. Friends of the doctor have also claimed that he was the first man in the United States to knock kown Bob Fitzsimmons. He is said to have performed the feat when he was a boy during a sparring match at White Lake, Minn.⁸
