Dr. Ira Houghton Dies in Maryland
A graveside burial service will be held Friday at i p m. at Cky Cemetery for Dr. Ira Luther Houghton, who died Monday at his home at Hagerstown, Md.
Dr. Houghton fc survived by his wife, Mrs. Alice Steams Houghton. formerly of Fredericksburg: a daughter. Mrs. James 0. Bush of San Antonio, Texts: two sisters, a brother and two grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Hsgerstown.
A graduate and former assistant resident in urology at the Johns Hopkins University Medical School, he practiced his profession for more than 30 years, first in Akron, Ohio and later In Hagerstown.
For the past several years. Dr. Houghton had been retired because of ill health. He was a member of the American Urological Society, the American College of Surgeons and the American Board of Urology. He was also he author of a number of médirai papers In his speclaliied field, was past president of the Washington County Medical Society and of the medical staff of the Washington County Hospital at Hagerstown.
