Dawn Marie Tanti, 49, passed away peacefully in her Lakeport, California, home on the morning of June 5, 2016. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family as she had been during her courageous two-year battle against cancer. Dawn was born in San Jose, California, to Steve and Linda Melendez. She and her family moved to Lake County in 1979. She attended local schools, and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1985. That same year she married her middle-school sweetheart, Charles. They set their roots near family and started building a beautiful life together. They were blessed with two sons; Steven and Shane. Charlie and Dawn were married for 30 years and worked collectively building a successful business and raising their family. She created a home where everyone felt loved and welcome. The door was always open and though she only had two children, she was considered a "mom" to many more. Dawn lived to see the smiles on her family and friends' faces. She was the quintessential hostess; throwing parties in which her attention to detail and genuine hospitality never went unnoticed. She was an avid gardener, world traveler, insatiable reader, happy camper and all around lover of life. Dawn was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, "Grammy," and friend. She is survived by her husband, Charles Tanti; sons, Steven (Clare) and Shane; granddaughters, Gemma and Josie Dawn; parents, Steve and Linda Melendez; sister, Michelle (Kevin) Ross; father and mother-in-law, John and Victoria Tanti; brothers and sisters-in-law, Theresa (Carlos) Alfaro, Mark Tanti, Julie (Darin) Brodnansky; nephews and nieces, Vincent, Natalie, Joshua (Jennifer), Jaclyn, Garrett, Mitchell, Janae, and Jacob; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; and of course, many dear friends.
