He emigrated to the U.S. at the age of 18 where he worked as a freight car mechanic for the Southern Pacific Railway and later as a cable car mechanic for the City of San Francisco, where he retired after 29 years. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1962. A resident of Millbrae since 1969, he enjoyed watching sports, gardening, raising canaries, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Katherine, his children, Mary Carmela Crenshaw (Dan), Joseph, Paul (Jennifer), Nick, and Kathleen Morearty (Brian) and his grandchildren, Nicole and Erik Crenshaw and Rosalie, Nicholas, and Elizabeth Morearty.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 4th at 9:00 AM at Saint Dunstan Catholic Church, 1133 Broadway in Millbrae. Committal will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colma.
