June 23, 1935 - June 20, 2023
Patricia Vella was born on June 23, 1935, and peacefully passed away on June 20, 2023. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Max Vella, and daughter Carol. She is survived by her children Arlene, Cathy (Steve), Michael (Lynn), Patrick, and son-in-law Michael; grandchildren Joni, Gerald (Becky), Angela, Maria (Cody), Danielle, Michelle (Nick), Chris (Karsten), Austin (Kaitlin) and Kaitlyn and great-granddaughter Lexi. She was also preceded in death by her parents Alexander and Grace and her siblings Alberta (Walter), Alexander (Joey), Ann (Walter) and George (Judy). She will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Patricia was a proud native San Franciscan, living her entire life in the same neighborhood. She was a life long member of St. Cecilia's Church where she attended grammar school and where all of her children and many of her grandchildren also attended. She attended Notre Dame High School and graduated from San Francisco State University where she received her Bachelor's degree and met her husband.
Raising her family in the neighborhood where she grew up was her greatest joy. She was surrounded by friends and neighbors who were happy to stop and talk to her. They loved her beautiful smile and great wit. If you were on her favorites list, you would have been invited to join her for lunch at the Cypress Grill at Harding Park. Topics of conversation may have included her love of the 49ers or memories of growing up in the city. She had two favorite travel destinations. She and dad would pack up the kids to spend summers up the river in Cazadero. As one of the self designated lifeguard moms she would watch out for her kids as well as every other family's bunch. Her other favorite destination was Alaska. She looked forward to visiting our family and taking in the spectacular scenery.
She loved life and the people she met along the way. She especially loved her children and grandchildren, and was always ready to offer hugs and words of encouragement when needed. She will be missed by the many people who shared her journey.

He began military service at Vietnam US Army.
Obituary: on 29 January 2017: Joseph Schembri passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 due to complications of a stroke. Joseph was born to Salvatore & Salvina Schembri in Mosta, Malta in 1946. His parents, brothers Anthony, Charles and five infants preceded him in death. He is survived by his sons Charles and David (Cheryl) and his two beautiful granddaughters Bella and Leia. He also leaves behind his twin sister Lucarda (Lu), his sister Mansuetta (Sue) and brothers John and Peter. Joe was proud brother-in-law to Carmen, Mary, Thomas and Vincent as well as doting uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe loved Malta, cherished his heritage and the values it represented. At the same time he revered America, embraced and treasured what it stood for, and did not hesitate when summoned to serve in Vietnam. Joe had a perceptive mind, keen intellect, and an inherent knowledge of facts and figures; this helped him in the variety of jobs he held throughout his life. In the early years Joe was a Bartender for various large hotels in San Jose. He then spent 10 years working for a large trucking company in Kansas City, Missouri starting as a truck driver and advancing to Director of Line Haul Operations. Most recently Joe retired from his job as Postal Carrier in San Jose after 20 years of service. Prior to his illness Joe worked part-time as a Bartender in San Jose. When he was not working Joe spent as much time with family as he could and he especially cherished his time with granddaughters Bella & Leia. Joe was a voracious reader and any free time was occupied with books. Although we feel that Joe was taken from us much too soon, we take comfort in the fact that he lived life to the fullest and his suffering ended when God called him home.1
