Las Vegas, NV, USA, JOHN HOUGHTON John Houghton, 50, of Henderson passed away Oct. 2, 2010, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 25, 1960, in Burgess Hill, England. He is survived by his mother, Doreen Hylands; and brother, Nigel Houghton, both of England; his son, Matthew Houghton of Minneapolis; and his loving partner, of four years, Markus Van't Hul; along with their two pups, Daisy Louise and Zeke, of Henderson. John lived life to the fullest and loved the vibrant colors of God's world. In memory of John's spirit, anyone attending his service, we request you wear your most wonderful bright colors. No suits, please. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice in John's memory, for their wonderful care of him and so many others in our community.

Muriel J. Houghton

AGE: 86 • Millville

Muriel J. Houghton (nee Veltman) wife of the late Glendon E. Houghton died on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the age of 86 years.

She was the mother of JoAnn Walsh (John), Paula McGuigan (Frank), and Wilfred Houghton III. Daughter of the late Muriel and Jay Veltman, she is survived by her brother Jay. Muriel was the grandmother of Gloucester County residents Michael Walsh, Frank McGuigan, Shannon Walsh-Miller and Heather Helbig. She was also the great-grandmother of six.

Muriel was born in Millville, New Jersey in 1927. She was a graduate of Millville High School, Class of 1944. She attended Rider College majoring in business. She worked for several years at the Millville Daily Republican. Later, she worked at Elmer Community Hospital as well as several doctors' offices in Gloucester County. Muriel also volunteered at Underwood Memorial Hospital. Muriel and Glen lived for many years in both Elmer and Centerton. In the early 1980's, they moved to Glassboro, NJ. In their retirement years, Muriel and Glen traveled extensively. Throughout her life, Muriel was interested in both writing and art. She continued to take courses to develop her skills in both, but particularly in art. Pictures from her travels, local sites and still-lifes were her usual subjects. Muriel also enjoyed reading and puzzles. She will be missed by her family and friends.
