EAST LONGMEADOW - Shirley C. Houghton, 82, died Sunday September 17, 2006 with her caring family by her side. Shirley was born in Springfield October 16, 1923, a daughter of the late Howard and Beatrice ( Killam ) Loomis. She lived in East Longmeadow for 52 years and attended local schools. She was a graduate of the former Springfield Technical High School. Shirley worked for a number of years at Sunshine Card Co. in East Longmeadow and also at Olympia Card in Enfield, CT. Shirley enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting and arts and crafts of all sorts. Shirley was a member of the First Congregational church of East Longmeadow and the Senior Friendship Club at the Senior Center. Shirley leaves her loving husband of 62 years, Robert E. Houghton; her daughter, Barbara Stachowiak and her husband Robert of Ft. Wayne, IN; a son Robert E. Jr., of Springfield; a son Steven and his wife Nancy of Springfield; a brother, Robert Loomis and his wife Mary of Springfield; she was predeceased by her sister, Majorie Taylor; five grandchildren; one great grandson and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Friday Sept. 22nd at 1: 30 p.m. at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow, Ma 01028 followed by a burial in Hillcrest Park Cemetery, Parker St., Spfld. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. ObituaryNov 8, 2010Bernice Houghton 1925 - 2010 LUDLOW - Bernice "Bernie" (Kallman) Houghton, 85, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully at home on November 4, 2010. Born in Worcester, daughter of the late William and Alice (Booth) Kallman, she was a 1944 graduate of South High School. On March 20, 1946, she married Richard Houghton and together they moved to Ludlow in 1953 where they raised their family. Here, she worked for many years as a noon mother at the former Primary and Cole building, was a faithful member of the former St. Andrew's Episcopalian Church and was very active in the town elections belonging to the Republican Town Committee. Bernice also was an Eastern Star and member of Daughters of the Nile, a mother advisor for the former Ludlow Assembly of Rainbow Girls #55, and a member of the Mother's Club. She loved to knit, crochet, and sing, belonging to various choirs; and had a "green thumb" with a passion and natural talent for all things green and growing. Bernie was the beloved wife of the late Richard L. Houghton, who pre-deceased her in 2006; a loving mother to R. Lester Houghton Jr. of Jacksonville, NC, Russell A. Houghton and his wife Wendy of E. Granby, CT, and Elizabeth A. Cameron and her husband Edward A. of Middleton, Ma; a devoted and loving grandmother to Richard L Houghton III, Nathaniel E. Cameron, Alexander W. Cameron and Gregory R. Houghton, all of whom she passed on her ability and love of cooking and music; a dear sister to Mary Alice Cooper, of Worcester, and the late Russell Kallman and Gladys O'Keefe; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear close friends at Keystone Commons. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 10:00am at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery Chapel in Agawam. He was born May 19, 1956, in Pueblo, and grew up in Walsenburg and Rye. He graduated from Lamar High School and attended Lamar Community College.

He had a big heart and loved his children immensely. Jim was

currently a ranch manager in Avondale, and previously owned an outfitting business in Durango, that he was very proud of. He was an avid horseman, animal lover and skilled carpenter.

He is survived by a son, Chase Houghton of Fort Collins; daughters, Alyse Houghton of Loveland, and Tori Houghton of Avondale and Loveland; mother, Marilyn Dewell of Colorado Springs; father, George Houghton and wife Rose Scott of Truth or Conse-

quences, N.M; brothers, Scott Houghton and wife Marion Houghton of Colorado Springs, and Randall Houghton of Big Lake, Alaska; sister, Lisa Scott and husband Rodney Scott of Durango; stepsisters, Joselyn Dewell of Colorado Springs, Robin Dewell of Colorado Springs, and Tammy Dewell and husband D.C. VanOosten of Colorado Springs; stepbrother, Jeff Dewell of Colorado Springs; four nephews; four nieces; and one great-nephew.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary Susan Houghton, infant daughter, Kayla Jeannine Houghton and stepfather, Lyman Dewell.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m, Wednesday Sept. 27, 2006, at the Avondale Community Center, 402 Second St. in Avondale.1

She was born on July 17, 1938 in Walsenburg, Colorado, daughter of Louis Marcon and Josephine Repola Marcon. Marilyn attended Saint Mary High School in Walsenburg, Colorado, Class of 1956. She moved to Colorado Springs in 1970 where she became active in the home building industry. She married Lyman A. Dewell on August 3, 1974. In 1978 she was awarded "Builder of the Year" by the Home Builders Association of Colorado Springs and was the first woman elected to the Board of Directors for the HBA. She served on numerous HBA committees and was Precinct Chairman for the Republican Party. She also volunteered for Memorial Hospital. Before retiring she owned Concept Kabinet Designs. Marilyn enjoyed cooking, playing bridge, spending time in Cripple Creek, and traveling. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved spending time with family and friends. She is survived by a large family: son Scott Houghton and his wife Marion of Colorado Springs; son Randy Houghton of Big Lake, Alaska; daughter Lisa Scott of Durango, Colorado; grandchildren: Chase, Alyse and Tori Houghton, Seth Houghton and his wife Heather, Trevor Houghton, Tristan Houghton, Britni Henry and her husband Jake, Kelcie Scott and Trent Scott; great-grandchildren: Kaiden and Riley Henry, and Brayden Houghton; and siblings: Carol Geis of Gillette, Wyoming, Louis Marcon and his wife Sharon of Walsenburg, Colorado, and Ginny Mayville and her husband Chuck of Colorado Springs. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lyman; son James Houghton; and daughter Mary Susan Houghton. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 10, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel. Inurnment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance Chapel Mausoleum, Ethel Merman Columbarium. ObituaryApr 2, 2017Scott Douglas Houghton died unexpectedly in his home on March 24, 2017 in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the age of 59.

Scott is survived by his wife, Marion; son, Seth and wife, Heather; son, Trevor and wife, Alison; his grandchildren, Brayden, Hailey, and Addysen; siblings, Lisa and Randy; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Scott is preceded in death by mother, Marilyn; father, Lyman; and siblings, Jim and Mary Susan.

Scott was born on May 5, 1957 in Pueblo, Colorado. While living in Alamosa, he met Marion, his college sweetheart and soul mate. They were married in 1978 and spent the next thiry-nine years loving and caring for one another. During their first seven years together, the couple welcomed two children into their home.

Scott was a loving, gentle, and devoted husband and father. Family was the center of his life and there was nothing he wouldn't do for his wife or children. He adored his grandchildren and took great pleasure in spoiling them. His children remember him as a kind, gentle, patient, driven father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. He valued his friends, saw the goodness in each person he met, treated everyone with respect, and was an optimist, choosing to always see the glass as half full.

Scott was accomplished at construction and woodworking, and often turned the garage into a workshop. He learned the trade from his dad, Lyman Dewell, and went on to build custom homes, delivering quality and fulfilling dreams for his clients. He was proud to be involved with the Housing and Building Association, served on the Board of Directors, achieved his life spike, and served on numerous other committees. He was an adventurous individual who loved life, and who was passionate about family, travel, and great food. After fixing one of his many wonderful meals, when told how great it was, he would always say, "It's just something to eat." He was an active and dedicated member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and NRA.

He will always be remembered for his love of family, willingness to always give a helping hand, that little mischievous look and smile that came across his face when he was being ornery, but also for his loyalty, integrity, and compassion for all.

He was loved and will be sorely missed by all his family and friends.

Memorial Service, 1:00PM, Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at The Springs Funeral Services-North, 6575 Oakwood Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80923. There will be a reception to follow at his home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Scott's life.
