Martha V. (Haughton) Jordan (1930 - 2017)
NORTHFIELD - Martha Viola (Haughton) Jordan, age 87, formerly of Main Street, Northfield, passed peacefully on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility in Greenfield, surrounded by her loving and devoted family.
She was born in Enfield, New Hampshire on July 15, 1930 and was the daughter of George E. and Martha V. (Anderson) Haughton. Martha was raised and educated in Rutland, Vermont. After her education, Martha held several jobs in her lifetime, including one as a iron presser operator in a laundry where she met the love of her life and future husband, Donald Richard Jordan. She also worked as a waitress and a office cleaner at House Scale, all in Rutland, Vt.
In 1968, her family moved to Northfield. It was here where she worked for Kimball Landry in Greenfield, Erving Paper Mill in Brattleboro, Vermont until she retired.
Even during her retirement years Martha continued to work in the laundry at Northfield Mount Hermon School and for the Bernardston Senior Center; it is here where they resided for thirty-six years.

Martha was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church of Greenfield and was an active volunteer there as well as at the Share Drive Program at the Turners Falls Survival Center. Her hobbies and interests included, baking, cooking, music, flower gardening, watching the hummingbirds, feeding the winter birds, parties and picnics at her home or at the lake, bus trips to the casino, Halloween, when she loved seeing all the small children dressed up enjoying themselves, and vacations to visit family in Whitehall, NY and Pittsfield, Vt. Genealogy of family history was her passion.
But, the most important of all was her family; she was the most proudest of and looked forward to Christmas get-togethers.

Martha is survived by her family, which includes; three daughters, Pauline P. Judd and her husband Scott of Chesterfield, Jo Ann Kolick and her husband Michael of Athol, Nancy Jordan of Kissimmee, Fla., three sons, Donald Jordan Jr. of Plainfield, Michael Jordan and his wife Elsie of Millers Falls, Joseph Jordan of Greenfield, nine grandchildren, Charles Spears Jr, Robert Gonzalez, Jeremiah Gonzalez, Donald Jordan III, Joshua Jordan, Carmen Bauza, Jacob Bauza, Lucinda Jordan, Travis Jordan, one sister, Grace Johnson of VT, many great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Richard Jordan Sr. on February 6, 2017; four brothers, Frank, Charles, Albert, Ralph; 3 sisters; Phyllis, Nellie and Bertha.
The Family of Martha would like to extended a heart-filled thank you to the entire staff on Unit 3 Dementia Wing especially Shannon Lane at the Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility for their dedicated support, care, compassion, comfort and love they provided to Martha and her family.
A Memorial Service for Martha is scheduled on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at the St. James Episcopal Church, Federal Street, Greenfield with the Pastor Heather Blais as officiant.
There are no calling hours. Burial is scheduled for October 21, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. in North Clarendon Cemetery, Airport Road, North Clarendon, Vt. The Graham Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 18 Adams Street, Easthampton has proudly and honorably been entrusted with providing for the care and services for Martha.
