I was, am related to so many from The New Emmaus Missonary Baptist Church there in a small community called New Emmuas close to Troup, Texas. Not sure how I am related to many of them. I went to a small school in New Summerfield , Texas, a few miles from Jacksonville, Texas. Went to TN and married and divorced there.

Services Thursday For Mrs. Houghton

Mrs. Jannie Luttrell Houghton, 80, of 16 N. Jackson died at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday in Park Plaza-Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Robert Massie Funeral Home Chapel with C. A. Harguess; minister of Western Hills Church of Christ, and Stan Maiden, minister of Johnson Street Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.

Mrs. Houghton was born Jan. 17, 1890 in Grayson County. She was married to Fred Houghton Oct. 20, 1906 at San Angelo. She had lived here for 70 years.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Lynn Houghton of San Angelo; a daughter, Doney Houghton of Los Angeles, Calif; a brother, J. C. Luttrell of Abilene and three grandsons.

Pallbearers will be Ed White, R. H. Moos, Homer Jordan Jr., Marvin Barnes, Marvin Allen and Dick Swindoll, all of San Angelo.

Marsha: You have my parents in your Houghton line although you don’t have all of my siblings. I know that they would not want any personal information like birthdays, etc. listed.

Before my dad died in 2007 he came to visit me and we went to the Lunenburg, MA cemetery. My father wanted to see the graves of his great grandfathers who are buried there. I actually have pictures of their tombstones packed away – we are in the process of moving back to the Midwest. My grandfather George Albert Houghton, Sr. raised his family in Wisconsin and I do have information on my great grandfather.
