Biography

"A Methodist preacher, who has served many charges in Northern Kentucky and now resides in Covington, KY...Raised on a farm and studied to the senior year in Allegheny College when he left on account of the sickness of his father. Later he went to Kentucky and engaged in teaching and finally entered the ministry, in which he met with marked success. In 1872 he founded Riverside Seminary at Vanceburg and Tolesboro, Ky., and ably assisted by his wife, where she did her best and most enduring work, he continued at the head of this institution, continually adding to its strength and usefulness, eighteen years. In 1890 he again entered the ministry. His life has been one of simplicity and devotion. He is loved and honored in home, church, and in community."³

Article from the Canton Daily News, Canton OH, June 19, 1927: "The factory has been moved only once, in 1867 when Edwin, son of Curtis and father of the present owner took over the plant he built a new kiln and plant at the other end of the town. In 1895 a cyclone nearly ruined the plant tearing out the front of it. Repairs were made and the pottery continued in operation without losing any time."^5,11
