He was born in North Anson. February 24. 1903. the sont)! Fred M. and Alice He is survived by his wife, Amanda «Ellis» Houghton; a brother, Joseph Houghton; and step-father. E. W. Green, both ol New Portland, and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held at the Murray funeral chapel, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with the Rev. Evans Wilson, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating
Burial will be in Sunset ceme- tery.
Friends may call at the chapel Friday evening from 7 to 8 o'clock

NORTH NEW PORTLAND - Joseph M Houghton, 71, died Tuesday at a Madison nursing home following a long illness. He was bom in North Anson Oct. 26, 1909, the son of Fred and Alice (Nye) Houghton. He graduated from Central High School in North New Portland. He was interested in sports and was a semi-pro piayér in basketball and baseball. He married Live Olive Baron of Embden June 29, 1938 Before retiring, he had been employed for 25 years at Clark’s Manufacturing Co of North New Portland. He was a member of Mt. Abram Lodge AF AM of Kingfield. He is survived by his wife of North New Portland; one daughter, Mrs. Earl (Glenna) LeHay of Athens; three randdaughters, Jennie, Janice, and Valerie LeHay, all of Athens; and one cousin. Another daughter, Patricia, died in 1962.
