Mr. Houghton was found dead of apparent suicide shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday in the Tupper Lake village lockup.

He was an attendant at Sunmount Developmental Disabilities Services Office and Mercy Healthcare Center.

Born March 19, 1964, at Tupper Lake, son of John and Evelyn Andrus Houghton, he attended Tupper Lake High School and Glenmont Trade School, Albany.

Surviving besides his parents are a brother, Robert, Tupper Lake; a sister, Cindy, Tupper Lake; a half brother, Larry Hart, and a half sister, Linda Hart, addresses unknown; an aunt and a nephew.

Donations may be made to Tupper Lake Rescue Squad.²

Santa Houghton, age 84, of Garrison, NY died on Thursday, August 23, 2001 at Cortlandt Nursing Home, Cortlandt Manor, NY. Born in New York, NY on January 7, 1917 she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Mary (Milta) Ceraolo. Mrs. Houghton and her late husband Stan owned and operated the Houghton Dance Studio in the Bronx, NY. Together they taught tap, jazz, ballet and social dancing for over 32 years. From 1939-44 they performed in many New York nightclubs and theatres as professional dancers. She is also a lifetime member of the Dance Educators of America Association. She was predeceased by her husband Stanley Houghton, he died in May of 1988. She is survived by one son Stanley Houghton of Garrison, one brother Bob Ceraolo of Florida and one sister Fran Gaetani of New City, NY, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter also survive. Funeral services will be held at the CLINTON FUNERAL HOME, 728 No. Division St., Peekskill, NY on Saturday, August 25, 2001 at 10 am. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.¹

MILDRED RUBY HOUGHTON, 81, of Eagle Lake, died Friday at Winter Haven Hospital. A native of North Pharsalia, N.Y., she moved to Eagle Lake from Leesburg in 1984. She was owner/operator of a nursing home in Leesburg and a member of First Baptist Church of Eloise. She is survived by her husband, Walter; a son, Russell Manley of Murray, Ky; three daughters, Joan Smith of Mount Upton, N.Y., Bonnie Cannestra of Salisbury, Md., and Donna Maloney of Seattle; a brother, Neal Marvin of Safety Harbor; two sisters, Marie Hall of Pinellas Park and Margaret Leonard of Norwich, N.Y; 14 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Crisp-Coon Funeral Home, Winter Haven.
